The Passing

In the span of a few seconds, the Legendary Super Saiyan that had saved the world from utter destruction several times over lay helpless on the lush, green grass. In pain. In agony. In the face of death.
But the hero had been here before, in fact, he had friends there. What made this time different? There was just something missing in this specific instance.
His heart.
The attack struck him on a regular day. He was at Capsule Corporation with Gohan, in search of the Dragon Radar. This was no ordinary attack though. Any other attack, Goku would have parried or avoided. But this particular attack came from within. An implosion of sorts. What it was resulted in the Legendary Super Saiyan's fall to the cold, hard ground, leaving him motionless and debilitated.
"GOKU!"
Bulma's cry of panic was the last thing he heard as he collapsed to the ground and drifted into nothingness, where the pain multiplied. Ambulances soon came to the scene as Goku was carried onto a stretcher. Helpless, the Super Saiyan, still semi-conscious ventured towards the greatest obstacle of his life with his long-time friend Bulma and his son Gohan by his side.
a grim day. a day to remember.
